I love making my own molds from old vintage buttons and other findings to use with polymer clay. The other day I was rummaging through my large tin of "collectables" and pulled out this old vintage button I had for years. It reminded me of some knitting or twisted yarn. We decided to make a mold from it and then see what it would look like recreated in the clay.
Adding mica powders or antiquing with paint gave it quite a different look than the original piece.
We then decided that it could make a really neat shawl stick so here are a few that we made up.

Brilliant Bloom Buttons Used
Our Brilliant Blooms buttons have really become a popular item and people are finding more uses for them which we love to see. This hat was knit by Carla and she added a grouping of several Blooms buttons as an accent. Carla works at Katja's Quilt Shoppe and is so talented. She not only does some fabulous quilting, she is an avid knitter. If you are into either of these, you might want to check out and follow her blog, Grace and Favour.
This baby snuggy vest was knit by Anne at Kelowna Yarn & Needlecrafts. I love the color and how she used the Blooms buttons on it. Anne's store specializes in yarn and patterns for children and babies and we have been working with her in creating some buttons for these items just for her shop.

Intwined Fibre Arts
We are excited to announce that our buttons and shawl pins are in another new location. Intwined Fibre Arts is a fairly new yarn shop that opened up in Salmon Arm and now have a selection of our handcrafted buttons and shawl sticks for sale. The shop is very quaint and colorful with a wide selection of beautiful fibres. They carry a wide range of supplies for knitting as well as felting.
