New Buttons for a Sweet Sweater at Intwined Fibre Arts Store

We sell our handcrafted buttons, shawl pins and other accessories through several yarn and quilt shops in BC and what we enjoy the most is dealing directly with the owners.  Each one has a unique style to their shop and are looking for different items to fit in with it.

We like to customize some items for each of the stores as much as possible or fill a need if they are looking for something in particular.  In this case, Althea at Intwined Fibre Arts in Salmon Arm had knit a girls' sweater from this gorgeous yarn.  It needed 3 larger size buttons on each side in colors to match.

We designed some concave buttons with a texture and fun colors to coordinate with the colors in the sweater.

We made extras for her store and with our color samples, she can order in her custom colors to go with other yarns she might have.

Visit Intwined Fibre Art's Facebook page for more knitting and crochet inspiration.

Crochet Cowl Pattern Using our Buttons

Kim and Tara of Knot Sew Cute Design Shop create the most fabulous crochet patterns.  Kim just published her latest pattern -- this gorgeous v-shaped cowl which shows off our handcrafted buttons in the woodgrain pattern.  Don't you love this picture?  Our buttons never looked so good!  To see more of their crochet patterns, you can check out their Etsy Shop, or visit their blog where they have links to the many other shops they are available (column on right hand side).

We make the buttons shown here in assorted textured patterns.  They are available in a rich antique shade of brown....

... and for those who prefer more color, we make them in bright and muted shades as well.

Concave Textured Buttons

These are some new buttons with a deep texture and concave shape.  They are quite large (2-1/4") and go great on a quilted or felted bag.  Both the round and the leaf design were created using a texture plate designed by my friend. Helen Breil, called Fandango which is one of my absolute favorites.  Mica and paint pigment powders are then applied to the raw textured clay before baking.

These buttons are our a few of our new styles for fall and are already making their way into many of the stores that sell our work.  We created some in custom colors to go with a new fabric line at The Sewing Basket in Salmon Arm.

Fibre Expressions Quilt Shop

It has been an extremely hot and busy summer for us so far.  Thank goodness for our central air conditioning or we wouldn't get much claying done.

We've had a great time these past few weeks with the Shuswap Lake Festival of the Arts show, meeting new people and making new friends.

We had the privilege to meet Christine and her lovely daughter, Stephanie, who are the owners of Fibre Expressions Quilt Shop in Sechelt, BC.  They now have a wide selection of our buttons for sale in their store, in particular some of our latest design larger buttons to go with some new bags they will be teaching in their classes this fall.  They have a spacious classroom in their store along with a wide range of books, notions and fabrics.   Check out the photo on their website of their cool quilted car that they drive in the local parades.

They are in a beautiful and somewhat remote part of our province we call the Sunshine Coast.  The area is filled with shops, artists and plenty of nature.  Make sure you drop in if you are in the area.  If you cannot make it to their shop, you might want to check out their website as they also sell online.

Here are our new Medallion Crackle buttons in a concave style that are now available at Fibre Expressions.

Black and White With a Touch of Red

The gigantic concave leaf buttons we created have also been a big hit.  We had a request for them in black and white and I love how the red lady bug really pops.

The fun thing about making buttons for both yarn and quilt shops is that each type of store prefers different styles.  Some tend to go best with the yarns and other natural fibers where others work well with the larger quilt patterns.  Some of our buttons happen to cross over and are popular in both areas such as these. They are quite large so would make an awesome accent for either a quilted or felted bag.  They  would also be fun to add to a sweater or quilted jacket.  These are available at Heather's Fabric Shelf in Kamloops as well as  the Falkland General Store in Falkland and Linda's Quilt Shoppe in Kelowna.

Gigantic Buttons

These buttons are in our new spring collection for the local yarn and quilt shops.  They are concave or dish shape and quite large so go nicely on a quilted style bag or jacket.  The round ones are in a variety of colors.

The leaves with lady bug are in a traditional olive green as well as in the new Pantone Spring 2013 fashion color combo of Emerald Green and Tender Shoots.
