This is the third piece I entered into the
Shuswap Lake Festival of the Arts show in Sorrento. It is a box for your hidden treasures that I titled "Secret Garden". I used a cardboard tube to create the base form and then removed it after baking. I then built onto that clay form adding several layers inside and out. The box went through about 7 firings in total. It is 6" high and 6" in diameter.
That is absolutely beautiful. Hope you do well in the show. Smiles
ReplyDeletePrecioso, precioso, precioso..... ☺ besitos.
ReplyDeleteOhhh que linda!!! me gusta
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! This box is definitely a winner in my opinion. Good luck at the show...I have my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone.
ReplyDeleteBev, the pieces were already judged last Friday and even though I didn't receive a ribbon on this piece I did receive one for my sunflower necklace which was nice. It was a tough challenge as I was the only polymer artist out of more than 300 entries and most everyone in our area (including the judges) do not comprehend it whatsoever. In fact when I submitted my pieces I had a difficult time convincing them it was not painted. So in that regard I am very pleased I received one ribbon even.
Well, Carolyn and Dave, I deduce from your remarks that everyone working with PC still has a way to go to achieve the desired level of understanding and acceptance of the medium as the art form it is. You have so many talented PC artists in B.C. I had assumed there was wider familiarity among other art/craft communities. That's a stunning box! And your ribbon can be considered another bridge to greater understanding... of the technical and artistic skill attained to produce works of such beauty in your art! Congrats indeed!
ReplyDeleteYes Monique, there are a lot of talented PC artists in B.C. but most of them live in a defined area (on the coast -- Vancouver and the island area) and we live inland in the mountain regions more than 500 kms away from there.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of great artists in our area but polymer clay to them is known as "Fimo" and for children to play with so anything we make is totally new to them. We are however, slowly making progress in creating more awareness of this art form here which is good to see.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteThis piece is beautiful. I realize it's been some years but, do you have any pieces for sale?
Thank you,
Please email pinupheelsangel@gmail.com
Thank-you. This piece sold a while ago and never had the chance to make another. We do make a lot of different items which are now sold in our online store (see the link at the side column of this blog).
