Pantone Fall 2019 Fashion Colors - Guacamole & Eden

There are two shades of green in the Pantone Fall 2019 fashion colors -- both very different from each other.  Guacamole is my favorite type of green and is considered one of the "Classics" for the fall.  Pantone describes it as a "nutrient-enriched green and establishes a refreshing foundation.  Eden is a forest green and if you have my Clay Color System, you already have this recipe as it is the same as Cilantro #7-3.

Here are a few samples of these colors combined with some of the other Pantone Fall colors.  I didn't get the chance to play with the color Eden yet but I will have some samples later.

Here are the recipes using Kato polyclay:

Guacamole
10 parts Kato Yellow
1-1/2 parts Kato Green
1-1/2 parts Kato Gold
1 part Kato Black

Faux Turquoise Earring Beads that are Reversible

Remember the earrings I showed in my last two posts?  They looked both the same but one was in the  Faux Red Turquoise and the other in the Faux Green Turquoise.  Here are the photos of them again:

The unique thing about these earrings is that they are actually the same pair.  They are reversible with the red on the one side and the green on the opposite.

These are the silver bead frames I used to make the earrings.

In my Fabulous Faux Turquoise tutorial I show how to fill various metal bead frames with a clay veneer.  I also have a free mini-tutorial on our blog for filling bead frames like these which you will find here.

Faux Green Turquoise CaBezel Necklace and Earrings

I finally finished off the necklace with the Faux Green Turquoise CaBezel beads.  I shared the new green turquoise clay color recipe a while ago and you can find it here.

I used the "Lemon Egg" CaBezel mould to create the beads in this piece.  The ribbon is velvet and is not only extremely soft but completely washable and colorfast.  There is something unique about the earrings shown below.  I will share the surprise and how I made them with you tomorrow.

Pantone Fall 2013 Fashion Colors and Emerald Color of the Year

I just realized how August is already more than half over and it is time to be thinking about fall colors already.  Pantone determines the fashion colors for each season and shares them in their Fashion Color Report.  I've been busy mixing these new colors up using the Kato Poly Clay and will share my new clay color recipes with you over the next week.

As I was mixing up the new colors I could imagine all sorts of various combinations.  I find the mixing process gives me the jumpstart I need for the next season.  If you like to make jewelry to sell or even for yourself, it is great to keep up with the current fashion colors so you or your customers will have something to go with that new blouse or dress they just bought.

Check out the video (click here) where Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, talks about and describes these new fall colors.

To start you off, I already shared the clay color recipe for Emerald which is the Pantone fashion color of the year.  If you click on the photo below, it will take you to the blog post with the recipe using Kato clay.

Clay Recipe for the Pantone Color Tender Shoots

Tender Shoots is a shade of lime green that I am especially fond of.  When I first discovered polymer clay, this shade of green was the first color I learned how to mix and wanted to use it in almost everything.  It is easy to lean towards your favorite colors when creating but if we intend to sell the creations we make, we need to think about others and their color preferences as well.  This is why I love mixing up the new Pantone colors each season as it helps to push my boundaries in creating new shades of colors I normally would not mix up as well as create new color combinations with them.  So here is the clay recipe for the Pantone Spring 2013 fashion color, Tender Shoots.

15 parts yellow
1/2 part green
1/4 part gold
6 parts white mix # 1-2 *

Emerald is the Pantone Color of the Year for 2013

Emerald is a beautiful jewel-tone green and Pantone has announced it to be the color of the year for 2013.  Pantone describes this color as:

"Lively. Radiant. Lush…
A color of elegance and beauty that enhances
our sense of well-being, balance and harmony."

Since we will be seeing a lot of this color over the next year I thought it would be the first clay color recipe to share with you.

5 parts Kato Green
1 part Kato Turquoise
1 part Kato Pearl

Pantone Color Margarita

Green is my absolute favorite color -- certain shades of green that is.  I love vibrant yellow greens as well as deep rich olive tones.  When I started working with polymer clay, most of my pieces ended up green.  I had to overcome that tendency of overuse and force myself to work with new colors and combinations.  Do you have a color that is your favorite and find yourself overusing it in some way?

Creating the Pantone colors into clay has helped me in overcoming this issue and I can now see so many other color possibilities.

I have to say though as much as I love the color green, I am not so keen on the Margarita shade.  They refer to it as a "refreshingly piquant yellow-green colour that is like the drink minus the alcohol".  But when you compare the Pantone Margarita swatch to a real Margarita drink I do not see the similarity.  To me the Pantone shade is more like a variation of last year's Peapod and more like a seafoam as opposed to the cool lime colored beverage.  What do you think?

This?

or this?

See the difference?

Personally I love the more lime green combined with the other Pantone summery colors like Tangerine Tango and Cabaret....

I also prefer a more intense yellow shade of green (like in the flowers above) which has more of a "kick" to it than the Pantone shade that is muted.  But then that is my opinion.

Of course this green does have it's place on the color scale and can work as a neutral to tone down some of the other colors if you prefer a softer palette.  Here are a few photos to get you thinking with the clay color recipe below.
