Pantone Fall 2013 Fashion Colors and Emerald Color of the Year

I just realized how August is already more than half over and it is time to be thinking about fall colors already.  Pantone determines the fashion colors for each season and shares them in their Fashion Color Report.  I've been busy mixing these new colors up using the Kato Poly Clay and will share my new clay color recipes with you over the next week.

As I was mixing up the new colors I could imagine all sorts of various combinations.  I find the mixing process gives me the jumpstart I need for the next season.  If you like to make jewelry to sell or even for yourself, it is great to keep up with the current fashion colors so you or your customers will have something to go with that new blouse or dress they just bought.

Check out the video (click here) where Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, talks about and describes these new fall colors.

To start you off, I already shared the clay color recipe for Emerald which is the Pantone fashion color of the year.  If you click on the photo below, it will take you to the blog post with the recipe using Kato clay.

Gigantic Buttons

These buttons are in our new spring collection for the local yarn and quilt shops.  They are concave or dish shape and quite large so go nicely on a quilted style bag or jacket.  The round ones are in a variety of colors.

The leaves with lady bug are in a traditional olive green as well as in the new Pantone Spring 2013 fashion color combo of Emerald Green and Tender Shoots.

Bargello Tutorial Coming

I've received many requests on how I create my bargello veneers.  I will be sharing how I do this at the Horizon's retreat in two weeks but am also working on a published tutorial that should be available soon.

Here are some samples of a two color bargello in the Pantone Spring 2013 colors of Emerald and Monaco Blue.  This is just a small part of what I will be teaching in my tutorial.

So here are the links for all the polymer clay recipes I shared with you for the Pantone Spring 2013 fashion colors:

Tomorrow I have a special tutorial that I will share with you.  It is a surprise but the photo at the top of this post is a hint as to what it will be.

One more note:  If you would like to refer back to our other clay recipes for Pantone colors of the past, I have all the links now added on a page at the top of this blog.  The Pantone clay color recipes go all the way back to the Fall of 2011.  Enjoy!

Emerald is the Pantone Color of the Year for 2013

Emerald is a beautiful jewel-tone green and Pantone has announced it to be the color of the year for 2013.  Pantone describes this color as:

"Lively. Radiant. Lush…
A color of elegance and beauty that enhances
our sense of well-being, balance and harmony."

Since we will be seeing a lot of this color over the next year I thought it would be the first clay color recipe to share with you.
