Renewed Scarf Clips

The Shuswap Lake Festival of the Arts in Sorrento starts this Saturday and runs for eight days.  We are finally relieved to have all our items bagged, tagged and arranged in the gift shop.  I entered several pieces in the juried part of the show again this year which I can't show you just yet but will after the show starts.

We have a few new items in the gift shop this year.  Since creating our scarf necklaces we have received more requests for other types of accessories to wear with their scarves.  I was never totally happy with the scarf pendants we had made last year as the finishing of the clasp was very time consuming and finnicky to make.  I was so happy when we finally found some actual scarf clip findings.  These have a very strong spring type closure so it took quite a bit of experimenting to figure out how we could attach them to the backs of our clay designs without using any glue.

Here are a few of our new designs using the spring clip.

And here is a sneak peak of our scarf slip display set-up in the gift shop that will be open to the public this Saturday.  We had found these shutters which we painted and trimmed in fabric.

There are two of them so we can display our brooch pendants on the other one.

Carolyn, those are beautiful. I like the fact that they wouldn't poke into a knitted or crocheted scarf.

I was wondering if you would share where you get your scarf clips? I make a lot of infinity scarves for presents and these would be great.

Hi Bonnie,

The company we bought the scarf clips from is a Canadian wholesaler that does not sell online. I am checking with Wendy at Shades of Clay to see if she might want to carry them and then they will be more available. If not, I will let you know and I could always sell you a few of mine.

Thanks Carolyn, let me look on the internet and see if I can find them here. Do they have a manufacturer's name on them?

We would also be very interested in getting some of the scarf clip backs. Our current scarf slides are rather loose and I think this would address that issue. I would love to either get contact information for them or look at buying just the backs through you.

Thanks!

Desirae, You can check out the page on this blog for my free tutorials where I show how to attach the scarf ring clip. I have a link there for where to buy the finding.

It looks like your source no longer sells them, and after a couple hours (well, I'm easily distracted) of online searching I can't find a source for anything like that in the quantities I want (2 or 3, not hundreds). And other ideas for sources? TIA, Barb

Unfortunately the supplier cannot get anymore in as they truly were an old vintage finding and there are no more. We (Shades of Clay and myself) have searched tiredly looking for more but with no success. I am sad as we only have a few left ourselves and so in search of another finding that will work but might take some time. I will post here if and when we do.
